ISN'T CCU/S JUST AN EXCUSE TO CONTINUE USING FOSSIL ENERGY AND DELAY THE REAL ENERGY TRANSITION?
No. We clearly see it as our most important task to drive the energy transition. Highest priority is always to reduce and avoid emissions. CCU/S is not an alternative, but rather a necessary, supplementary solution for those industrial processes that produce emissions that are technically hard-to-abate or impossible to avoid, also in the future. Without a solution to this residual problem, it will be impossible to achieve full climate neutrality.
The EU creates the overall legal framework for the whole CO₂ infrastructure in Europe. Here, we are working in expert groups to ensure that the new laws are practical and safe. The EU legislative package passed in autumn 2025 provides the basis for all further measures.
The federal government in Berlin is aligning German laws such as the Carbon Dioxide Storage Act with European requirements. We are supporting this process in order to represent Bavaria´s interests and those of other southern regions and to ensure that no economic region is disadvantaged.
The Bavarian state administration decides how federal laws are specifically applied in Bavaria. We are directly involved here in order to contribute our knowledge of local circumstances and requirements, for example in the “Bavarian Stakeholder Dialogue“ hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Transparency and a fair dialogue
We understand our role not only as that of a project developer, but also as a long-term partner for the region, which in our opinion requires an open and ongoing dialogue. We will:
Inform proactively: We will openly communicate every significant planning step on this website and via other channels at an early stage.
Provide facts: We consider it our task to explain complex topics in a straightforward way in order to provide a fact-based basis for public discussion.
Act as a reliable contact: We are available to municipalities, citizens, associations and media for questions and a constructive dialogue at any time.
Developing a functioning CO₂ infrastructure requires creating clear and fair ground rules. We are therefore participating in ongoing constructive dialogue at all political levels.
But what do the specific plans look like and what partners are already on board to drive the CO₂ transition in the region?
